Rita Guerra, Coordinator of the kNOwHATE Project, Participates in European Workshop on Online Risk Management

Rita Guerra, a researcher at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon and the coordinator of the kNOwHATE project, was invited to participate in the workshop ‘Civil Society Participation in Systemic Risk Management by Large Platforms’. The event, which took place on April 23rd at Sciences Po Law School in Paris, was organized within the scope of the DSA Decoded project (https://www.dsadecoded.com/).

In her capacity as coordinator of the kNOwHATE project ([briefly mention the objective of kNOwHATE, e.g., a project that aims to understand and combat online hate speech in Portugal]), Rita Guerra contributed to the discussion on the participation of civil society in the management of systemic risks presented by large online platforms. The workshop brought together experts, academics, representatives of civil society, and policymakers to debate the implications and challenges of implementing the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA).

Rita Guerra's participation in this international workshop underscores the recognition of the expertise and work developed within the scope of the kNOwHATE project in combating harmful online content, including hate speech. Her presence allowed for the sharing of the Portuguese project's perspective and conclusions, as well as the exchange of knowledge and best practices with other relevant stakeholders at the European level.

The DSA Decoded project aims to analyze and facilitate the understanding of the Digital Services Act, a legislative framework that aims to create a safer and more accountable digital space. The participation of experts like Rita Guerra in workshops such as this is crucial to ensure that the implementation of the DSA takes into account the diverse perspectives and needs of civil society.
