kNOwHATE results shared in Brazilian media

Two news pieces were shared in Brazilian media with statements from Rita Guerra, coordinator of kNOwHATE.

The researcher talked about the increase of hate crimes in Portugal since the COVID pandemic, and what may be behind this increase. “There are phenomena that appear connected, such as the dehumanization of the other, through comparisons with animals, and the frequent use of disinformation – in several countries, for example, hate speech relates immigration to public safety issues.”, Rita Guerra said. According with the news, for the researcher, the fact that racism is not a crime in Portugal makes it difficult to combat those who commit it.
